医务处临时检查，令心外的医护们如临大敌，医务处长欧阳真予在安和医院素有铁腕之名，唐佳瑜和欧阳真予初次见面便很不愉快，都暗暗希望未来不用再和对方打交道。唐佳瑜在国外救治过的病人王雪纯入院来做心脏移植，她是扩心病晚期，多年等待终于等到捐献供体。佳瑜替王雪纯高兴，却发现欧阳真予是医院的器官移植协调员，只好硬着头皮继续应付欧阳。 捐献心脏的是车祸导致脑死亡的袁蕊，袁父母从外省赶来，欧阳真予向两人说明袁蕊是器官捐献志愿者，遭袁母断然拒绝，王雪纯的移植手术暂时告吹。佳瑜来找欧阳兴师问罪，谁知欧阳早已想到解决方案，最终家属同意了捐献。 但因事态的发展，无法按照原定计划执行，佳瑜只能放弃，等待下一颗捐献的心脏。经过此事，佳瑜意识到研发国产人工心脏对等待心脏移植的病人们意味着什么，她决定接受刘沣的邀请，带领重病组开展研发。
